The Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) is a new law in the United States that requires certain companies (mostly LLCs and Corps) to disclose their beneficial ownership information (BOI) to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) by filing a report.
This law was put into effect on January 1, 2024, to combat money laundering, terrorism financing, and other illicit activities by increasing transparency and accountability in corporate structures.

So FinCEN is the agency that is now responsible for implementing the new BOI reporting requirements that we have to follow as business owners.
